A few days ago, our verification coordinator Ivo Spauwen left on a trip to Thailand and China. He regularly keeps us informed on his progress. His first message came from Bangkok, Thailand, where Ivo oversaw an audit and met some interesting people.

From 21 to 25 September of 2009, the UN Year of Natural Fibers, Swiss NGO Helvetas organises an international congress on organic cotton entitled ‘From Fashion to Sustainability’. The congress, which takes place in Interlaken, will provide a unique platform for companies and service providers along the whole textile value chain, offering the opportunity to discuss and learn about innovations, challenges, successful business models and to establish new partnerships in the field of organic and fair trade cotton.
Along with many of its members, Fair Wear Foundation will also participate in the congress, among others through a contribution of FWF director Erica van Doorn, who will be speaking on one of the panels.

More and more often, Dutch celebrities are spotted wearing clothes by FWF affiliates. Among the most consistent are celebrity couple Caroline de Bruijn and Erik de Vogel, who have even appeared in more than one photo shoot wearing, among others, Expresso Fashion (Caroline) and Suit Supply (Erik).

On the eve of sustainability day, Fair Wear Foundation joined forces with ethical fashion webshop watmooi.nl hosting a Fair Fashion Show. Urgenda, the organisation behind the Dutch ‘Sustainability Eve’, invited frontrunners from the Sustainability Top 100 to grace the catwalk, showing outfits by FWF members Arrow, Eco-Couture, Expresso, Gsus, Studio Jux, Suit Supply, and Van Markoviec.
