Fair Wear's Brand Performance Check

Fair Wear's Brand Performance Check tracks brands’ progress in addressing human rights risks and supply chain issues while providing tailored recommendations to strengthen their human rights due diligence processes and increase their impact on working conditions in supply chains.

Brands participating in the annual Brand Performance Check commit to working in line with Fair Wear’s policies and internationally recognised standards, including the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) and the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains in the Garment and Footwear Sector. 

Fair Wear scores brands against a set of indicators assessing how far due diligence are embedded in core business practices and aligned with the Fair Wear Code of Labour Practices (CoLP). All Brand Performance Check reports are published online for transparency. The results of the Brand Performance Check enable Fair Wear and brands to monitor progress over time and assess how effectively brands have identified, prevented, mitigated and addressed human rights risks. The Brand Performance Check is the most important element of Fair Wear's shared responsibility approach to improving working conditions in garment and textile supply chains. For brands demonstrating advanced performance, Fair Wear offers the possibility of a biennial Brand Performance Check. As part of this approach, selected indicators are assessed across two financial years. Eligibility for a biennial Brand Performance Check requires brands to publish a public report that meets Fair Wear’s advanced HRDD reporting requirements.
